One Week to Go!!!

Dear Hacktivism Participant,

I hope this message finds you well! We are just one week away from the start of Hacktivism, our exciting hackathon dedicated to creating innovative solutions for social good. We’re thrilled to have you on board and wanted to share some important updates and reminders to ensure you’re ready for the event.

Key Updates:

  1. Agenda and Schedule: Please find the schedule for Hacktivism at this link: Hacktivism 2024 Schedule. (All times are listed in Eastern Standard Time.) We will offer a variety of technical and non-technical workshops on both days! These workshops will be extremely helpful in providing you with the skills and knowledge needed to develop impactful solutions. Although the workshops are highly recommended, they are completely optional, and your attendance or absence from them will not be considered in the judging criteria.

    • Hacktivism Workshops: Introduction to Social Projects, Ideation Techniques, Web Development, Computer-Aided Design (CAD), Introduction to C++ Programming, Presentation & Pitching
  2. Preparation:

    • Pre-Event Checklist: Ensure your laptop/device is ready and that you will be able to keep up with communication during the event! You will not have to be online for the entirety of the event, but make sure you check updates and stay in the loop!
    • Team Formation: If you would like to form a team and haven't formed a team yet, don't worry! Feel free to use the find-team-members channel in our Discord server to connect with participants from around the world!
  3. Resources:

    • Discord Server: Join our Discord Server for real-time updates, networking, and support throughout the event. We will use our Discord Server for regular updates, workshop invitations, and office hours!
    • Mentorship: We have a fantastic lineup of mentors available to help you, and they will be available through the Discord server!
  4. Review the Judging Criteria:

    • Originality - How unique and creative is this idea? Does the project introduce a novel solution or innovative approach that sets it apart from existing solutions?
    • Presentation - How well was the idea presented? Was the presentation compelling? Did the video effectively communicate the project and its purpose?
    • Impact - Does the project make a true impact on a community? Is the project solving a real-world problem and achieving something meaningful?
    • Execution - Is the project well-designed and executed? Is the user experience smooth? Does everything appear to work?
    • Growth - Do the team member(s) demonstrate growth, enthusiasm, and gracious professionalism?

Stay tuned for more updates as we get closer to the event. If you have any questions or need assistance, feel free to reach out to us at [email protected] or send us a message on the Discord server!

We can’t wait to see the amazing solutions you’ll come up with for a better world!

Best regards,

The Hacktivism 2024 Team
